A Glimpse into the Future of Electric Vehicles: Honda’s 0 Series Unveiled at CES 2025
At CES 2025, Honda took a major step towards electrifying its fleet, unveiling the next-generation electric vehicles, the 0 Saloon and 0 SUV. These two powerhouse models are the first of many to come under Honda’s 0 Series EVs, with the U.S.-built 0 SUV set to hit showrooms in the first half of 2026.
They still look like concept cars
The 0 Saloon prototype maintains its sleek, low-slung design, giving it a 1980s supercar vibe. The 0 SUV, on the other hand, boasts a more distinctive, aerodynamically-optimized shape. Both models exude a sense of futuristic engineering, showcasing the automaker’s attention to detail.
Levelling up driver-assist tech
The 0 Series EVs will feature a Level 3 driver-assistance system, allowing drivers to take their eyes off the road in certain situations. This tech, currently offered in Japan, will be a major step forward in autonomous driving. Honda is working to expand its reach to the U.S. market, despite regulatory hurdles.
Computing rethink
The 0 Series EVs will run on a new operating system called Asimo, named after the iconic Honda humanoid robot. This system is designed to be fully OTA updateable, ensuring seamless integration with future updates. Honda is also collaborating with Renesas Electronics Corporation to develop a system-on-chip, consolidating various vehicle systems into one, reducing energy consumption, and enhancing performance.
More charging options
Access to charging networks is critical for widespread EV adoption. Honda is committed to providing its customers with an extensive network of public charging stations. The 0 Series EVs will feature Tesla-style North American Charging Standard (NACS) ports, with plans to offer access to the Tesla Supercharger network later this year. Additionally, the automaker is part of the Ionna fast-charging network and is working alongside Ford, Nissan, and BMW on the ChargeScape joint venture, aimed at promoting home charging and vehicle-to-grid connectivity.
U.S.-built and ready to deliver
The 0 SUV production version will debut in North America in the first half of 2026, with the 0 Saloon following later in the year. As part of its electric vehicle strategy, Honda is also set to launch the Afeela EV in 2026, in collaboration with Sony Honda Mobility.
