Get Ready for Action with Two Epic Video Game Adaptations: Helldivers 2 and Horizon Zero Dawn Movies

Sony’s Big Plans for Its Hit Gaming Franchises – Oh, and There’s a Helldivers Movie Coming Too!

In a move that’s sure to get gamers excited, Sony has announced a series of new movie spin-offs based on its hit gaming franchises. The company made the announcements during its CES 2025 press conference, and we’re still reeling from the news.

One of the most action-packed franchises getting the movie treatment is Helldivers, the militaristic parody of a futuristic fascist empire fighting off alien invaders. And by "action-packed," we mean literally – the Helldivers movie is being made by Sony Pictures, because who wouldn’t want to see a big-screen adaptation of an already-out-there-Paul-Verhoeven-inspired-action-comedy-based-on-a-futuristic-fascist-empire-fighting-off-alien-invas

Horizon Zero Dawn, on the other hand, is getting a feature film treatment through a partnership between PlayStation Productions and Columbia Pictures. It’s a game about fighting giant robotic monsters that have taken over earth – and we can’t wait to see it on the big screen!

But don’t worry, Sony hasn’t forgotten about its other popular franchises. Ghost of Tsushima is getting an anime series called Legends, which will be made for the streaming service Crunchyroll by Aniplex, the studio behind Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaib, and directed by Takanobu Mizuno, known for Star Wars: Visions – “The Duel”. It’s a ways off, but we’re excited to see how it turns out!

In related news, the upcoming Ghost of Yotei (no, really, that’s what it’s called) game is set to arrive on PS5 later this year. So, there you have it – Sony’s big plans for its hit gaming franchises. Who knows what’s next for these beloved games? One thing’s for sure, though: we’re stoked to see what the future holds!
