Flops and Fizzles: Cancelled Unknown 9 Franchise Falls Short of Expectations

The Mysterious End of Unknown 9: An Assassin’s Creed-meets-Tomb Raider Adventure
The game behind the daring Assassin’s Creed-meets-Tomb Raider transmedia experiment Unknown 9, created by developer Reflector Entertainment, has silently terminated the franchise, following a dismal performance in its initial release.
Reflector’s most recent endeavor, Unknown 9: Awakening, didn’t hit the mark. This adventure series, featuring the Witcher TV series’ Anya Chalotra, missed the studio’s expectations. Reflector Entertainment’s CEO Herve Hoerdt acknowledged in a statement, “it didn’t come near our expectations” and didn’t warrant further exploration. The punch seems harsh but inevitable.
Additionally, one of the two projects being worked on has been scrapped – possibly an untitled Unknown 9 game still in the “conceptualisation phase”. Consequently, Reflector has ceased its development efforts.
According to Herve Hoerdt, “This decision is a direct outcome of the studio’s courageous, ambitious, but underwhelming debut. Our team invested time, passion, and effort into bringing a rich, expansive transmedia universe to life, and for it not to receive the enthusiasm and love from players was unfortunate.”
