Chipotle and Spirit Halloween Debut Retro Revival Costume Line: Vintage Memes Get a Fashionable Makeover
This Halloween, Chipotle is shaking things up and doing more than just serving up a mean burrito. The popular fast food chain has joined forces with Spirit Halloween, North America’s largest Halloween retailer, to launch its first-ever costume collection. Because, why just eat like a burrito when you can dress like one too?
Starting September 6, customers can snag a unitard that pays tribute to some of Chipotle’s most iconic items – think napkin, fork, water cup, burrito, and to-go bag. Each of these full-body suits is priced at $40 and comes in sizes from adult small to XL. They’ll be available on Spirit Halloween’s website and in select locations across the US, including Chicago, Denver, Los Angeles, New York, and Egg Harbor Township, New Jersey. Canadians can also get in on the action online, while supplies last.
But what’s behind this saucy collaboration? Both Chipotle and Spirit Halloween are trying to cash in on the quirky costume memes that have been going viral for years. You know, the kind where people dress up as Chipotle’s bags or a giant burrito. Yeah, those ones. It’s a clever way for the brands to monetize their internet fame and attract some extra attention this Halloween season.
In fact, Chipotle has been getting in on the meme action for a while now. Two years ago, the company released a fictional “Chipotle Fork” and “Chipotle Napkin” unitard, which racked up over 700,000 engagements online. So, it’s clear that this brand knows a thing or two about getting people to laugh and, more importantly, spend their money.
But that’s not all – Chipotle has promised another “scarily great offer” next month, and we can’t wait to see what they’ve got in store. Will it be free food for customers who dress up in tin foil burrito costumes? Only time will tell.
