Unlock Grand Taking Ages Parody Thrill Ride to Debut Exclusively on Steam Despite Shock PS Exit

GTA 6 Parody Game "Grand Taking Ages" Cleared for Release on Steam, But Why Not on PS5?

In a surprising turn of events, Valve has given the green light to "Grand Taking Ages", a videogame parody of Grand Theft Auto 5. But, only a few days ago, Sony had other plans, pulling the game from the PlayStation Store. So, what changed?

For the uninitiated, Grand Taking Ages is a game that uses AI-generated artwork and voice acting to parody the open-world experience of GTA 5. The game’s title was initially "Grand Taking Ages 6", but has since been rebranded to differentiate it from the real GTA 6, which is still in development.

According to Violarte, the game’s developer, Grand Taking Ages is now set for a July 2025 release on PC via Steam, with a management simulation gameplay experience where players take on the role of a game developer. The game’s logo and presentation have been adjusted to better distinguish it from the real GTA 6.

It’s unclear why Sony initially pulled the game from the PlayStation Store, but Violarte claims that Sony was not convinced that the game was a legitimate parody. The developer, however, believes that a recent project, Grand Theft Hamlet, which was staged within GTA Online, offers a precedent for such parody content.

"We genuinely believe that, with the recent updates, Grand Taking Ages is now ready to be relisted on the PlayStation Store," Violarte said, requesting that Sony reinstate the game’s store page. "We strongly believe that there will be no issues with Sony this time, given the adjustments we’ve implemented."

Eurogamer has reached out to Sony for comment on this matter.

In other news, Rockstar Games is targeting a late 2025 release for the actual Grand Theft Auto 6. Last week, the company shut down an ambitious mod that put GTA 4’s Liberty City in GTA 5.
