Windows 11 Bug Blitz: Latest Update Brings Start Menu Chaos and Frustration

Windows 11’s December Update Brings More Bugs to the Table

It’s been a rocky road for Windows 11 users, and the latest December update has only added to the frustration. A slew of bugs has been reported, including some nasty problems with the Start menu falling over.

The Start Menu Saga Continues

One of the most significant issues is a visual glitch that causes the search theme for the Start menu to display incorrectly in white when a user has a dark theme enabled. While this might not be a widespread problem, it’s still a minor annoyance that could be fixed with a simple update.

However, there’s a more serious issue at play here. Some users have reported that the Start menu stops working completely after applying the December update. The culprit behind this bug is a DLL file (MSVCP_140_APP.dll) that Windows 11 detects as being outdated.

A Possible Workaround, But at What Cost?

If you’re affected by this issue, there is a possible workaround that involves updating this package. However, we wouldn’t recommend attempting this unless you’re comfortable with the potential risks involved. Otherwise, you’ll need to either roll back the update or live with a non-functional Start menu until Microsoft fixes the issue.

Other Bugs and Glitches

It’s not just the Start menu that’s experiencing issues. Other problems have been reported, including the ‘Safely Remove Hardware’ icon staying constantly on the taskbar and display issues after installing Windows 11 23H2 KB5048685. These might be related to the HDR-related issues that Microsoft recently confirmed.

A Call to Action for Microsoft

With reports of many bugs in recent times, particularly with Windows 11 24H2, it’s clear that Microsoft needs to step up its game and ensure that cumulative updates are more stable upon release. We hope that the company will be swift and effective in addressing these issues and providing a smoother user experience for Windows 11 users.

More Bugginess in the Latest Windows 11 Update

As we’ve seen, the latest Windows 11 update has brought a host of new issues to the table. With more bugs and glitches reported, it’s clear that Microsoft needs to take a closer look at its update process to ensure that users aren’t left feeling frustrated and disappointed.
