Will OnePlus Open 2 Outshine Honor with World’s Thinnest Foldable Smartphone?
The original OnePlus Open still holds the top spot in our book as the best foldable phone on the market, but new whispers suggest a sequel is in the works, and it might just upstage the impending Honor Magic V3. According to the trusty leaker Digital Chat Station, the OnePlus Open 2 is shaping up to be a game-changer, boasting record-breaking thinness alongside a plethora of upgrades.
Apparently, the phone will feature a Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 chipset, a triple-camera setup with a 50MP primary sensor, and a beefed-up 6,000mAh battery (up from the current 4,805mAh). The rumors don’t specify how these cameras will differ from the current model, but the improved battery life and newer hardware are definite plus points.
The main question now is whether the OnePlus Open 2 can overcome its predecessors’ weaknesses, particularly the camera bump and lack of features. If it can, it’ll retain its crown as the best foldable phone out there.
In the meantime, the battle for thinness continues among traditional phones, but for foldables, it makes more sense to strive for a more compact design. The OnePlus Open 2 leak suggests the phone will be under 10mm thick when closed, a significant improvement over the current model’s 11.9mm when folded. The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6, by contrast, measures 12.1mm when folded and 5.6mm when unfolded.
So, who will take the title of thinnest foldable phone between the Honor Magic V3 and OnePlus Open 2 remains to be seen. What matters most, though, is the overall experience of using these phones – and the OnePlus Open has been praised for its impressive camera and seamless performance.
Will the OnePlus Open 2 manage to fix its flaws and retain its top spot in our foldable phones guide? Only time will tell, but the upcoming sequel is certainly generating plenty of buzz.
