What We Desire from the Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra: Top 5 Expectations Unlocked
5 Things We Want from the Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra
The Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra is just around the corner, and leaks and rumors have given us a good idea of what to expect. But there are a few things we’re still holding out for. Here are the five things we most want from the Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra.
1. 16GB of RAM as Standard
The Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra is sure to have a powerful chipset, so we’re not going to bother wishing for that. But what we hope it also has is 16GB of RAM – and in every configuration, not just the top ones. RAM is important for many things on phones, but it’s now becoming all the more so, as AI tasks can make heavy use of it. So, the more the better if the Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra is going to deliver as an AI phone.
The Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra has 12GB of RAM, so our realistic wish is for the Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra to have 16GB, and it looks like we might get that – at least in part. Early leaks suggested the Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra would ship with 16GB of RAM, but more recently, we’ve heard that the base Galaxy S25 Ultra configuration might have 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage, while pricier 512GB and 1TB models could come with 16GB.
2. Improved Software
As well as a faster processor and more RAM, we’d like to see Samsung improve the software experience on the Galaxy S25 Ultra. This could mean a more streamlined interface, better integration with other Samsung devices, or more advanced AI features.
Samsung’s One UI software has its fans, but it’s not perfect. There are still some quirks and annoyances that could be ironed out, and we’d like to see Samsung take a more comprehensive approach to software updates. After all, Google and OnePlus have shown that timely and regular software updates are possible, even for flagships.
3. A Better Camera
The Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra’s camera system is rumored to be getting a boost, with a new 50MP ultra-wide-angle sensor joining the existing 12MP front camera and 50MP primary sensor. This is a welcome upgrade, as the current camera system on the Galaxy S24 Ultra is starting to show its age.
We’d like to see Samsung continue to push the boundaries of mobile photography, with features like improved low-light performance, better portrait mode, and more advanced video recording capabilities. And, of course, we’d love to see Samsung bring back its 10x optical zoom periscope camera – more on that later.
4. A Return to 10x Optical Zoom
Speaking of the camera, we’d like to see Samsung bring back its 10x optical zoom periscope camera. For several generations, this feature helped the Ultra models stand out from most other Android phones, offering a level of zoom range that few others could match.
The Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra switched to a 5x optical zoom, which is still better than most other phones, but it’s not the same as having a 10x optical zoom. We’d love to see Samsung bring back this feature, especially as many other phones are now offering 5x or 8x optical zoom.
5. Speedier Charging
Finally, we’d like to see Samsung focus on speedier charging on the Galaxy S25 Ultra. While the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra largely had cutting-edge specs at launch, one exception to that was its charging speeds, with just 45W wired and 15W wireless charging.
For whatever reason, Samsung has never chased the fastest charging speeds, perhaps because Apple and Google don’t either. But some brands like OnePlus, Xiaomi, Oppo, and others do, with their flagships sometimes charging at 100W or more wired and often 50W or more wireless. These are speeds that Samsung’s phones just can’t compete with, but with the Galaxy S25 Ultra, we’d like to see the company try.
