China’s Q4 Smartphone Market: A Victory for vivo, Huawei’s Rise, and Apple’s Fall
The fourth quarter of 2024 saw a significant shift in China’s smartphone market, with vivo emerging as the largest player in terms of sales. According to the latest data, the company shipped an impressive 13.2 million units, capturing 17.6% of the market share. This represents a notable growth of 14.8% compared to the same period in 2023.
Apple Sees Decline, Huawei Sees Rise
Apple took the second spot with 13 million shipments, accounting for 17.3% of the market. However, its shipments declined by 7.1% year-on-year (YoY), indicating a slight dip.
Huawei, on the other hand, almost caught up to Apple, shipping 12.7 million units and claiming 16.9% of the market share. The company’s YoY growth stood at an impressive 14.4%.
Xiaomi Sees Massive Growth, Oppo and Honor Perform Steadily
Xiaomi was the clear winner in terms of growth, with a massive 29.5% increase compared to Q4 2023. The company shipped 12.3 million units, accounting for 16.4% of the market share.
Oppo and Honor, both strong contenders, shipped 10.5 million units, accounting for 14% of the market share. While Oppo saw a 7.1% increase, Honor witnessed a 13.2% decline.
Quarterly and Annual Trends
The Chinese smartphone market saw a total of 75 million shipments in Q4 2024, representing a 5.3% year-on-year (YoY) growth. This marks the fourth consecutive quarter of growth.
For the full year, China’s smartphone market saw 271.4 million shipments, indicating a 3.7% increase compared to 2023. With the introduction of smartphone subsidies this year, the market is expected to continue its upward trend.
