Upgrading to Unparalleled Efficiency: 2025 Subaru Forester Hybrid Boasts Record-Breaking 580-Mile Range

Subaru Finally Unveils the 2025 Forester Hybrid: What You Need to Know

Subaru has officially revealed the long-awaited 2025 Forester Hybrid, which promises to combine the ruggedness of the nameplate with a more fuel-efficient package. Unveiled at the Chicago Auto Show, this new hybrid model is expected to hit the market as a 2025 model. But what makes it tick, and how does it differ from its conventional counterparts?

Why a Hybrid Forester Makes Sense

With the Forester being Subaru’s second-best-selling model in 2024 (after the Crosstrek), it’s surprising it took them this long to introduce a hybrid variant. As the demand for hybrid models rises, Subaru’s competitors like the Honda CR-V and Toyota RAV4 are already offering their own hybrid options. By embracing the technology, Subaru can better compete in a crowded market.

What You Can Expect

The 2025 Forester Hybrid combines a 2.0-liter boxer engine with an electric motor to produce a total system output of 180 horsepower. The e-BOXER system allows the engine to stop and start as needed, minimizing fuel consumption. Subaru claims this setup will achieve an estimated EPA rating of up to 47 mpg in combined city and highway driving.

Meet the 2026 Forester Wilderness

But the 2025 Forester Hybrid isn’t the only new Forester variant to emerge. Subaru also unveiled the 2026 Forester Wilderness, a more off-road-focused model designed for the great outdoors. With a beefed-up suspension, higher ground clearance, and unique styling elements, the Forester Wilderness promises to take Subaru’s capabilities to new heights.
