Unveiling Meta Quest 3S: Exclusive Must-See Features & Revolutionary Augmented Reality Inventions at Meta Connect 2024
Meta Connect 2024: The Announcements I’m Most Hyped For
Meta Connect is just around the corner, and I’m sharing the five announcements I most want to see at the event. With a focus on XR tech and AI, this year’s Meta Connect is likely to be all about what’s new and next for the Reality Labs division.
1. The Meta Quest 3S
This isn’t a surprise, as we’ve already seen teasers and leaks about the Quest 3S. But, I’m convinced we’ll see it in action at Meta Connect 2024. With its rumored lower price tag and bulkier design, this headset could be the perfect entry point for those new to VR. We know it’ll pack the Quest 3’s Snapdragon XR2 Gen 2 chipset, and I’m eager to see what other upgrades Meta has in store.
2. A Sizzle Reel for Horizon OS on Third-Party Headsets
It’s been months since Meta announced that Horizon OS would be coming to other headsets from Asus, Lenovo, and Xbox. I think it’s high time we see some action on that front. A sizzle reel showcasing these third-party headsets running Horizon OS would be amazing, giving us a glimpse into what’s possible when other hardware manufacturers team up with Meta.
3. Better Meta AI Rollout
Meta AI is an incredibly useful tool, especially on the Ray-Ban smart glasses. But, right now, it’s region-locked to the US and Canada. I’m hoping to see a wider rollout of Meta AI, making it available to everyone. Plus, I’d love to see some parity with the Apple Intelligence and Google Gemini upgrades we’ve seen at recent events, with unique features that integrate with a wider selection of apps.
4. A Mini Quest Gaming Showcase
Meta Connect usually doesn’t delve too deeply into gaming, but I’d love to see a mini Quest Gaming Showcase highlighting some new and exciting VR titles. This year, we didn’t get a proper Quest Gaming Showcase, so I think it’s about time we see some fresh faces and innovative experiences in the world of VR.
5. The Unexpected: GTA: San Andreas VR Revival
I know this one is a long shot, but wouldn’t it be amazing if Meta Connect 2024 saw the revival of GTA: San Andreas VR? After being labeled as "on hold indefinitely" in August, I’m not holding my breath, but a gaming enthusiast can dream, right?
Stay tuned for Meta Connect 2024, and let’s see if any of these announcements come to fruition.
