Unlock the Power of Timestamped Audio with YouTube Music’s New Feature
Timestamp Sharing Now Live on YouTube Music for Android and iOS
The latest update for YouTube Music on Android and iOS enables users to share specific timestamps for videos, podcasts, and music tracks. This feature is now available on both the mobile app and the web platform.
How it Works
When you share a video, tap the "Share" button, and a small "Start at x:xx" toggle will appear at the top-right corner of the share sheet. This toggle utilizes the position/time when you tap the "Share" button, and the following "t=XX [seconds]" is added to the URL:
- [Example URL 1: https://music.youtube.com/watch?v=15m_iQaKHVg&si=ZmtTNEBEBAuZhLCF]
- [Example URL 2: https://music.youtube.com/watch?v=15m_iQaKHVg&t=82&si=2AW4dbpDL9uwKk6t]
Practical Uses
This feature is most useful for sharing podcasts, but can also be applied to share specific parts of songs or long concert recordings. For instance, you might want to share a hilarious podcast episode or a brilliant guitar solo.
Global Availability
The timestamp sharing feature has been rolled out globally, following a server-side update for YouTube Music on Android and iOS. It’s also available on the web platform.
Ongoing Progress
We still await the update to the Android "Share Sheet" design, as it remains the only component on Android and iOS to lack the new look.
