Unlock Smoother Hunts: Capcom Targets Lower GPU Requirements for Monster Hunter: World Performance Boosts

Monster Hunter Wilds Performance Update: What to Expect

The excitement surrounding the release of Monster Hunter Wilds on February 28th is palpable, but one big question still lingers: what’s been done to improve the game’s performance since its rocky public beta? Capcom has finally shed some light on this, along with a promise to lower the game’s recommended GPU requirements on PC.

Following a beta that was marred by framerate issues and visual glitches on even mid-range hardware, Capcom’s initial response was to remind players that the game is still in development, with assurances that the final product will be better. While this didn’t quite alleviate concerns, the prospect of improvements in the next beta, scheduled for February 7-9, was a glimmer of hope.

However, Capcom has since confirmed that the second beta will not feature these changes, leaving fans wondering what’s been done to address the performance issues. The good news is that the team has been working on addressing rendering issues from the open beta and continues to prioritize performance improvements for the game’s launch.

A recent update from the official Monster Hunter social media channels revealed that the team is focusing on rendering improvements and is "continuously working on improvements for launch." This is accompanied by a video showcasing the game’s updated Prioritize Performance mode, which aims to deliver up to 60fps on PS5 and Xbox Series X, compared to 30fps in Prioritize Graphics mode.

Capcom has also confirmed that it’s exploring ways to lower the recommended GPU requirements on PC, which, given the beta’s performance on mid-range hardware, is a welcome development. The minimum system requirements announced last September were quite high, with an RTX 2070 Super, RTX 4060, or RX 6700 XT needed to reach 60fps at 1080p with Frame Generation.

When Monster Hunter Wilds launches on February 28th for PC, Xbox Series X/S, and PS5, fans can expect the same content as the first beta, including Character Creation, Story Trail, and Slay Doshaguma Quest. The game’s beta intruded on familiar hunt thrills, custom playstyles, and extravagant combat, so here’s hoping that Capcom can iron out those remaining wrinkles before launch.
