Unlock Effortless Contact Management with Google Contacts’ Revolutionary New Creation Experience
Google Contacts Redesign: A Simplified Approach to Creating New Contacts
A Fresh Face for Contact Creation
The latest redesign of Google Contacts is now rolling out, and one of the most significant changes is the updated process of creating a new contact. Gone are the navigation drawer and the "Organize" tab, making way for a streamlined approach.
Renewed Fields and Functionality
The initial and last name fields now appear after the profile photo, accompanied by the removal of the dropdown menu for prefix, middle name, and suffix. The Company field remains unchanged, but with a centered layout and without icons. Phone (Mobile) is the next field, with the country code pre-filled, followed by email and significant date, which are now hidden behind a button press.
Changes to Field Input
While the difference between tapping a button versus a field may seem minor, it’s a change that can affect muscle memory. However, the keyboard still pops up immediately with both, ensuring a seamless experience.
New Shortcuts and Additions
The redesigned Google Contacts now features prominent shortcuts for "Add address" and "Add to label," with "Notes" appearing at the bottom. Additionally, the "Add fields" button at the bottom brings up a sheet with options for Middle name, Phonetic pronunciation, Prefix, Suffix, Nickname, File as, Job title, Department, Related people, Website, and Custom field.
A More Focused Approach
The new design eliminates the cluttered approach of the old "More fields" option, which automatically inserted fields into the view. Instead, the new "Add fields" button offers a more focused experience, allowing users to access the desired fields without unnecessary distractions.
Server-Side Redesign
The changes are rolling out today as part of version 4.39 of Google Contacts, as reported by Mishaal Rahman on Reddit.
