Unlock Android Auto Integration with Gemini’s Progressive Development
Google’s Gemini Takes Center Stage on Android Auto
Google is gradually shifting its products from Google Assistant to Gemini, and the latest example is Gemini on Android Auto. This move has been anticipated for some time, with code suggesting that Google was adding Gemini Live to Android Auto a few months ago.
The folks at Android Authority have managed to manually enable Gemini’s interface on Android Auto, which is expected to be part of the v13.5 update. Gemini replaces Google Assistant within the UI, with the current Assistant microphone icon being replaced with a blue/purple gradient microphone icon. Currently, Gemini isn’t functional on Auto, but the UI is virtually identical to Assistant.
There’s no word on when this will go live for all, as Google hasn’t announced the expansion just yet. This comes as Google has announced that Gemini will be coming to Google TV in 2025 and we’ve found evidence that Gemini will be coming to Wear OS as well.
