Google’s Gemini Live AI assistant has introduced a range of new voices for Android users, offering a unique way of speaking tied to personalities and accents. These voices are a part of the company’s efforts to make Gemini a personalized aide adaptable to your preferences.

Exploring the New Voices

There are ten new voices, each named after constellations, stars, or star-related phenomena, such as Orion, Capella, and Nova. Initially exclusive to Gemini Advanced subscribers, these voices are now available to all users. This expansion makes them more accessible and aligns with Google’s goal of making Gemini a part of every user’s experience.

• The voices are designed to be more emotionally expressive, using a speech engine that enables them to handle interactions in a way closer to human conversation.
• The AI assistant can still complete tasks and talk simultaneously, regardless of the voice you choose.

Gemini Live: Forever

The introduction of these new voices comes as OpenAI prepares to announce significant improvements to the ChatGPT Advanced Voice Mode. While ChatGPT in Voice Mode currently struggles with longer conversations and has other limits that Gemini Live and its larger context window don’t, it remains to be seen whether the updated Advanced Voice Mode will include as many voice options.
