Unleash the Power of Your Google Drive: What’s Inside a Material You Video Player
Google Drive Gets a Modern Makeover with a New Video Player
Google loves its Material You design language, and we love how it revitalizes even the most mundane apps. Google Drive, along with Gmail, has one of the best implementations of Material You, and now, it’s getting an even smoother, more modern video player.
Say goodbye to the old, circular playhead and hello to a sleek, modern design that embodies the spirit of Material You. Gone are the days of cluttered controls, clumsy sliders, and unnecessary noise. In their place is a clean, intuitive interface that puts the focus squarely on your video-viewing experience.
The New Video Player Layout
At the heart of this new design lies a Material 3 slider, making controls more accessible and enjoyable. Gone is the red track, replaced by a crisp, white progress bar that feels calm and efficient. The play/pause button now resides on the far left, flanked by a container for fast-forwarding and rewinding by 10 seconds with elapsed and total time displayed. On the right, a rounded rectangle houses additional settings, such as volume, closed captioning, playback speed, and the ever-popular full-screen mode.
Improved Experience
But what does this new design look like in action? Imagine watching your favorite video with a clean slate, free from distractions, and surrounded by a harmonious blend of colors. It’s all about "cleaner lines, intuitive controls, and a less cluttered viewing experience." For Google, this redesign marks a significant step forward in creating an enjoyable, distraction-free experience.
When Can You Expect the New Video Player?
The new Material You video player is rolling out over the coming weeks to all Google Workspace customers, Workspace Individual Subscribers, and those with personal Google accounts. Stay tuned for more details as we learn more about this exciting update.
