Citing industry sources, the report reveals that Apple’s next-generation flagship phone will come equipped with a variable aperture camera, which will be assembled with equipment from BESI.
What’s a Variable Aperture Camera?
In simple terms, a variable aperture camera allows you to adjust the aperture (the size of the camera’s lens opening) to achieve different effects. Most smartphone cameras, including those on current iPhones, have fixed apertures, which typically sit at a relatively low f-stop value. For example, the iPhone 16 Pro features a fixed f/1.8 aperture.
