Unleash the Power: Fire TV Stick HD vs Fire TV Stick Lite – What’s New?

Amazon’s Streaming Machine: Fire TV Stick HD

Amazon has been on a hardware spree, and this week is no exception. Not only did we see the launch of new Kindle readers, but the company has also given its Fire TV Stick lineup a new look. Out with the old and in with the new – the Fire TV Stick HD is here, and it’s changing the playing field.

The Fire TV Stick HD Raises the Entry-Level Price

The old Fire TV Lite and Fire TV Stick are being phased out, making way for the new Fire TV Stick HD. And, yes, this does change things – the entry-level price has gone up by £5/$5 to £39.99/$34.99. But don’t worry, this is a temporary pain. Black Friday is just around the corner, and we’re sure Amazon will be rolling out some fantastic deals on its own hardware.

A New Alexa Remote

But, the price increase is not all bad news. With the Fire TV Stick HD, you’ll get a new Alexa Remote that includes physical controls for TV power and volume buttons. This means you can control your TV as well as your Fire TV interface using your voice and remotely. It’s a great addition, especially if you have smart home devices that require Alexa control.

Updated Internals

Under the hood, the Fire TV Stick HD still boasts some solid specs, including a 1.7GHz quad-core processor, 8GB of storage, and Wi-Fi 5. It can stream up to 1080p with HDR10+ and HLG (no Dolby Vision, sorry). While it’s still a microUSB power cable, it does have HDMI connectivity. Overall, the Fire TV Stick HD is a solid upgrade to the previous models, and we’re excited to see what the future holds.
