Unleash the Fun: How to Play Switch 2 Early and Get Ahead of the Game

Preparing for the Nintendo Switch 2: What You Need to Know
Nintendo is taking the Switch 2 on a global tour, and the time to get your hands on the new console has finally arrived. With the Switch 2 now revealed, the next question on everyone’s mind is when they’ll be able to get their hands on it. While Nintendo hasn’t shared a release date, they’re giving the public a chance to preview the console at a series of live events across the world. Here’s what you need to know to get ready for the Switch 2 preview event:
Event Locations and Dates
The Switch 2 will be demoed in several cities across North America, including New York, Los Angeles, Dallas, and Toronto. You can find the exact dates and locations on Nintendo’s website. Events are also happening in Europe and Asia, with registration open for London and Tokyo.
Registration and Attendance
Getting a chance to play the Switch 2 isn’t as simple as showing up and waiting in line. There’s a registration process to go through, and registering doesn’t guarantee attendance. Here’s what you need to know:
- First, you need to have a Nintendo account, which is free to create, even for children aged 7 and above.
- For families or groups, all members must have a Nintendo account linked to a Nintendo Family group.
Registration Process
Registration opens on January 17th at 12PM PT / 3PM ET and closes on January 26th. Tickets are free but awarded by lottery, similar to how Nintendo does it for its museum events. You can only register for one time slot per person, and trying to sign up for additional slots will require you to cancel your previous registration.
What to Expect
The website doesn’t specify exactly when selected attendees will be notified, but it should happen shortly after the registration window closes. With high demand expected, you’ll need good luck to get a spot at the Switch 2 preview event.
