For the uninitiated, the series takes place in the official Dragonlance campaign setting for Advanced Dungeons & Dragons, which was born from Hickman and Weis’ D&D sessions in the early 1980s.

As the War of the Lance raged on, a group of adventurers found themselves swept up in the midst of an epic conflict. The Dragonlance Chronicles trilogy became the official storyline for the original AD&D Dragonlance modules. Since then, the setting has expanded to include numerous official modules, spin-off board games, and video games.

To date, the Dragonlance franchise has produced over 190 spin-off novels, including two follow-up books, Dragonlance Chronicles: The Second Generation and Dragons of Summer Flame.
