Unleash the Exotic Value: Why a 185-HP Porsche Can Sell for $400,000

The Porsche 912c Targa: A Lightweight, Powerful, and Unconventional Classic

The air-cooled Porsche 911 has taken on numerous forms since its introduction, and the four-cylinder-powered 912 is often overlooked. Hungarian company KAMM is looking to change that with its latest 912c build, which started with a soft-window 1968 Targa roadster. The result is a sleek, lightweight, and powerful vehicle that’s a far cry from its original design.

Lightweight and Quick

The Targa weighs in at under 800 kilograms (approximately 1,764 pounds), making it a significant departure from the original. This is due in part to the use of carbon fiber for the body panels and Targa bar. In comparison, a Miata weighs around 2,500 pounds, making the 912c Targa seem surprisingly agile. The 2.0-liter air-cooled flat-four engine produces 185 horsepower and 151 pound-feet of torque, a significant increase from the original 90 horsepower and 98 pound-feet of torque.

Interior Luxuries

The cabin boasts a unique combination of Tobacco leather and Porsche Pasha cloth upholstery, complete with a psychedelic pattern. The dashboard features a row of analog gauges, but don’t be fooled – there’s more to this interior than meets the eye. KAMM has integrated a high-end sound system and air conditioning, which are both cleverly hidden from view. The result is a blend of classic design and modern luxury.

Customization Options

For those who want to create their own restomod, KAMM offers build slots for 2025. Enthusiasts can customize their vehicle to their heart’s content, from paint color to transmission gearing (short, long, and touring). Heated seats are even an option.

Price

If you want the exact 912c Targa shown above, it can be yours for €395,000 (approximately $407,000). It’s a steep price, but for those who value exclusivity and a truly unique driving experience, it might be worth considering.
