Unleash the Chaos: Baldur’s Gate 3 Enters Cross-Play Stress Testing

Baldur’s Gate 3: Get Ready for the Final Major Update – Patch 8 is Live for Stress Testing!
After a surprise early release on PlayStation 5, the final major update for Baldur’s Gate 3 has now arrived, and it’s time to get in on the action. This update, Patch 8, is available for stress testing on all platforms, and it comes packed with some exciting features.
To get in on the action, you’ll need to register on Larian’s website and hope to be selected in one of the waves of invites that will be sent out throughout the testing period. Or, if you’re one of the lucky few, you might have already received an unintended update on your PS5 that lets you join the fun – just be aware that this update might brick your saves, so be sure to back up your progress or consider reverting back to Patch 7 by uninstalling and reinstalling the game.
So, what’s in Patch 8? For starters, it brings cross-play multiplayer between all platforms, allowing you to team up with friends across different devices. You’ll also have access to a detailed photo mode, 12 new subclasses, and split-screen co-op for Xbox Series S players.
All these new features are sure to shake things up, and we’re excited to see how they’ll change the way we play Baldur’s Gate 3. To get started with cross-play, check out Larian’s video tutorial for a step-by-step guide on how to set it up. Once you’ve got it enabled, you can create a lobby and invite friends via their Larian Network account names. Joining games is just as easy, and the game will prompt you to download the necessary mods should the host of the lobby require them. Just note that PC players will need to limit themselves to 100 mods that work on all platforms.
The new subclasses are also a great reason to start another playthrough. Here’s a list of every new subclass and their corresponding starter class:
* Wild Magic (Spellcaster)
* Chronomancer (Wizard)
* Arcane Trickster (Rogue)
* Shadowdancer (Ranger)
* Mindstalker (Rogue)
* Soul.weapon (Fighter)
* Celestial Mind (Paladin)
* Oathian (Barbarian)
* Menacing Dame (Fighter)
* Subtlety Sneak (Rogue)
* Mind Domain (Warlock)
* Primal Destruction (Barbarian)
Once the final version of Patch 8 is live, Larian Studios will be wrapping up development on Baldur’s Gate 3 to focus on new projects outside of the Dungeons & Dragons universe. So, don’t miss out on this opportunity to get a taste of the final major update before it’s gone for good.
