Unleash Instant Chic: Fujifilm Instax Wide Evo Review

Fujifilm Instax Wide Evo: A Two-Minute Review

The Fujifilm Instax Wide Evo is an instant classic, with its retro design and ultra-wide body that’s hard to miss. If you’re looking for the best instant camera for hybrid photography and prefer to shoot on wide format prints, this might be the model for you. While it doesn’t come cheap, the Instax Wide Evo is a step up from Fujifilm’s other hybrid cameras, offering more creative control and versatility.

What sets it apart?

The Instax Wide Evo has a lot to offer, but it’s the extra real estate that truly sets it apart. The wider film print gives you more space to play with, and the camera takes advantage of this by adding more physical buttons for quick control over settings. One of these buttons is dedicated to switching to a more standard field of view (FOV), perfect for when you want a more traditional photo. You can also switch between six different film styles, and the crank on the side of the camera lets you manually wind your pictures for a more nostalgic experience.

Creative possibilities are endless

The Instax Wide Evo’s built-in film and lens effects make it easy to experiment with different styles, and with 100 creative combinations to choose from, you’ll never run out of ideas. The wide-angle prints also give you more room to work with, and the camera’s dedicated selfie mode is perfect for getting the perfect shot.

Image quality and printing

While I didn’t have a chance to fully test the camera, I did print out a few photos, and the results were impressive. The monochrome film effect was particularly impressive, with great contrast and rich colors. But, as someone who’s used to shooting on film, I have to say that the print quality on the Instax Wide Evo isn’t quite on par with traditional film cameras.

The verdict

The Fujifilm Instax Wide Evo is an exciting addition to the instant camera family, offering more creative control and versatility than its predecessors. While it’s not perfect, it’s definitely worth considering for those who want a hybrid instant camera that can produce unique and creative results.
