Unleash Enhanced Hearing Health with AirPods Pro 2’s Latest Firmware Update
Unlock the Power of Hearing with the Latest AirPods Pro 2 Update
Apple’s recent event may have missed the release of a new AirPods Pro model, but it’s clear that the company is committed to improving the existing AirPods Pro 2. With a fresh firmware update rolling out just in time for the launch of iOS 18.1, users can now enjoy a range of new hearing health features that will revolutionize the way they interact with the world around them.
Timing is Everything: New Firmware Lands Ahead of iOS 18.1 Launch
As we count down the days until the arrival of iOS 18.1, expected to debut on October 28, Apple has released a new firmware update for the AirPods Pro 2. This update introduces support for three exciting new health features:
• Hearing Test: Get scientifically-backed hearing test results from the comfort of your own home, tailored for individuals aged 18 and above.
• Hearing Aid: Enjoy seamless compatibility with the AirPods Pro 2 as an over-the-counter hearing aid in the US, making it easier to pick up on conversations and sounds around you.
• Hearing Protection: Leverage advanced technology to monitor your environment and reduce the impact of loud sounds.
What’s New?
The Apple Hearing Test allows users to undergo a hearing test from the comfort of their own home, with results tailored specifically to those over 18 years old. Moreover, the AirPods Pro 2 are now approved to work as an over-the-counter hearing aid in the US, making it easier for individuals with hearing loss to engage with the world around them.
But That’s Not All – Hearing Protection is Also on the Way
The new firmware also includes a Hearing Protection feature that keeps tabs on your environment to help reduce the impact of loud sounds. While this feature will initially be available in the US and Canada only, its implications are vast. Imagine having a personal guardian angel that ensures your health and wellbeing by alerting you to potential dangers lurking in the environment.
Get Up and Running with the Latest Firmware
The new firmware, tagged with build number 7B19, is now being rolled out to users worldwide. To unlock these new hearing health features, you’ll need to update to iOS 18.1. Don’t worry, though – the process is straightforward:
- Open Settings
- Head to your AirPods Pro settings
- Scroll down to the Version section
And that’s it! Your AirPods Pro 2 will automatically update to the latest firmware when connected to an iOS device or Mac.
Give Back to Your Ears and Stay Ahead of the Game
I’m thrilled to see Apple embracing the concept of hearing health and wellbeing, incorporating features that cater to individual needs. By upgrading the AirPods Pro 2, Apple is taking a bold step in the right direction, particularly considering the company didn’t release the AirPods Pro 3 this year. Instead, we got the AirPods 4, which boasts a more expensive tier that nearly matches the Pro model’s features. If you’re going to call something "Pro," shouldn’t it stand out with standout features?
