Unleash Cutting-Edge Home Cinema with the XGIMI MoGo 3 Pro, a Top-Notch Portable Projector
XGIMI MoGo 3 Pro Review: A Portable Projector with Compelling Features
Chinese electronics brand XGIMI is on a mission to become a go-to choice for projector enthusiasts, aiming to lure customers away from established brands like Samsung, BenQ, and LG. The MoGo 3 Pro, released alongside the more premium Aura 2 4K UST projector towards the end of 2024, boasts a resume that could make it a top contender in the best portable projectors category. With a 1080p full HD resolution, 450 ISO lumens brightness, Google TV and Netflix on board, and a portable design, can XGIMI outdo its competitors? Let’s dive in and find out.
New Look, New Features
The MoGo 3 Pro’s design is a significant departure from its predecessors, opting for a cylindrical shape that protects the projector lens when not in use. This design innovation allows for a 130-degree tilt, making it possible to beam onto ceilings (though, in my testing, I wasn’t able to achieve this feat without adjusting the entire projector unit). A full 180 degrees of tilt would be ideal, but XGIMI has still made an impressive start here.
Picture Quality
Projected images look excellent, although they may require some tweaking in the limited picture settings to achieve optimal results. Out of the box, images may appear washed out and overexposed, but adjustments can lead to impressive color and contrast. I was impressed by the projector’s ability to combat ambient light, resulting in a much clearer image when the lights were turned off.
Sound Quality Disappoints
Unfortunately, the MoGo 3 Pro’s built-in speakers, designed by Harman Kardon, fail to deliver a cinematic experience. The sound is unengaging, despite support for Dolby Audio and Dolby Digital Plus formats. If you’re planning to use the projector for movie nights, a Bluetooth speaker or external sound system is highly recommended.
Battery Life and Power Options
The MoGo 3 Pro doesn’t come with a built-in battery, making it less portable than some of its competitors. However, it does offer a USB-C power bank option, which can provide up to 2.5 hours of continuous playback. The optional PowerBase stand, which raises the projector off a surface and provides a built-in battery, can keep your movies running for longer, although its limits are more restrictive.
Value and Verdict
The XGIMI MoGo 3 Pro justifies its price tag and undercuts its closest competitors. With its impressive picture quality, portability, and unique design, it’s an excellent choice for those seeking a solid projector without breaking the bank.
