Unleash Cinema-Grade Home Entertainment with the Superb Panasonic Z95A OLED TV with Immersive Dolby Atmos Sound

Panasonic Z95A: A High-End OLED TV for the Discerning Viewer

The Panasonic Z95A is the company’s flagship OLED TV, sitting above the Z90A and Z85A in the 2024 OLED lineup. This year, there are two big changes for Panasonic TVs: they’re switching from their own My Home Screen smart TV interface to Amazon Fire TV and re-entering the US TV market, though with a more limited selection of models and screen sizes.

A High-End TV Experience

The Panasonic Z95A comes in a single 65-inch size, with a 55-inch model available in the UK. Its price tag of $3,100 / £3,899 puts it in the premium TV camp, but if you’re willing to invest, its performance and features make it one of the best OLED TVs available.

Display and Sound

The Z95A’s ‘Master OLED Ultimate’ display panel features the same micro lens array (MLA) tech found in the LG G4 OLED TV and boasts a new HCX Pro AI Processor MK II to enhance HDR tone mapping, color accuracy, detail, and motion handling. The result is a bright, high-contrast image with rich colors – a true premium TV experience.

The sound system is another standout feature, with a 5.1.2-channel 160W speaker system that includes front and side-firing speakers, as well as up-firing speakers to deliver Dolby Atmos height effects. The Z95A’s sound is so good that you might not even need a separate soundbar.

Smart TV and Gaming Features

The Z95A’s Fire TV interface isn’t the most sophisticated, edged out by more advanced systems like webOS and Roku. However, it still gets the job done for streaming and features a new Ambient Experience that displays a range of pre-installed images when the TV is in sleep mode, as well as allowing you to upload your own images and create new ones using AI.

Gamers will appreciate the TV’s two HDMI 2.1 ports with 4K 144Hz, VRR (including Nvidia G-Sync and AMD FreeSync Premium), and Dolby Vision Gaming, as well as a Game Control Board menu overlay that lets you quickly make gaming-related settings and assign it to the TV’s My App button for easy access.

Conclusion

The Panasonic Z95A is a high-end TV that delivers elite sound and picture quality, making it a great choice for those who want the best. However, the Samsung S95D is available for a significantly lower price, so you need to consider whether you really want its particular combination of sound and visuals. For those who value sound and picture quality above all else, the Z95A is a top choice.

How I Tested the Panasonic Z95A

I tested the Panasonic Z95A over the course of two weeks, using Calman color calibration software to measure grayscale and color accuracy. I also made measurements of peak light output using 10% and 100% white window patterns, as well as coverage of DCI-P3 and BT.2020 color space. I used the Calman ISF workflow to calibrate the image for best accuracy and watched a range of reference scenes on 4K Blu-ray discs to assess the TV’s performance.
