Reflections of Apple’s Culture in "Severance"
The fictional world of Lumon, where employees are oblivious to the bigger picture, aren’t allowed to take work outside the building, and can’t communicate with colleagues from other departments, isn’t unlike the way we’ve heard Apple operates. The office minimalist decor and white aesthetic aren’t unlike the Apple Stores we’re familiar with. Even the address of Lumon Industries – 499 Half Loop Road, which isn’t far from Apple’s former HQ at 1 Infinite Loop – raises questions.
Apple Officially in on the Joke
A new promotional spot for Season 2 of "Severance" leaves no doubt that Apple is fully on board with the show. Tim C., set to appear in the latest episode, is spotted arriving at Lumon, mirroring Tim Cook’s arrival at the Apple campus. In the promo, Cook, portrayed by his outside persona, takes the elevator to his office before greeting Travell Tillman’s character, office enforcer Seth Milchick. "Tim C., the core of the apple," Seth says. "Please, have a seat."
