Uncovering the Mysterious Depths of Metaphor ReFantazio: A Romantic Odyssey
Can You Fall in Love in Metaphor: ReFantazio?
The concept of romance is a staple in the Persona series, but Metaphor: ReFantazio takes a different approach. In this game, the question of whether you can romance Followers is more complex than a simple "yes" or "no" answer.
No Romance Options with Followers in Metaphor: ReFantazio
Unfortunately, the answer is no, you cannot choose a king-consort or queen-consort for yourself in Metaphor: ReFantazio. The protagonist is too busy trying to defeat Count Louis, resurrect the prince, and bring peace to the nation to focus on romantic relationships. In fact, many of the companions in this game take on more of a friend or mentor role, eliminating awkward or inappropriate undertones with underage characters, a common issue in the Persona series.
A Complex Answer: Forced Romance in Metaphor: ReFantazio
However, the answer is not straightforward. Beware of spoilers for some late-game character interactions below.
Eupha’s Confession: The Only Romance Option in Metaphor: ReFantazio
Eupha, your penultimate companion, is the only one to outright profess her love for you. While she hints at her feelings earlier in the game, the confession happens when you finish her Follower bond. You can choose not to reciprocate her affections, but even if you do, the outcome is limited. You and Eupha will stand on the deck of the Gauntlet Runner, hold hands, and discuss the meaning of your relationship. While it’s not a full-fledged romance, it’s the only romantic scenario in the game that explores the idea of relationships between your protagonist and another character.
If you like Eupha, we recommend responding positively to her affections, as the scene is rather sentimental.
