Tecno’s Revolutionary Fold2 and Flip2 Launching Next Week: Are You Ready?
Tecno Unveils the Next-Gen Foldables: A Leap Forward, But Also Some Surprising Choices
Last year, Tecno made waves with its first foldable phones. Now, the company is back with the second generation models, bringing some exciting upgrades, but also some surprises. Let’s dive into the details of the new Tecno Phantom V Fold2 and V Flip2.
The V Fold2: Thinner, Lighter, and Packed with Power
The V Fold2 is the horizontal foldable of the two, and it’s undergone a significant makeover. At just 12mm thick and 249g, it’s noticeably slimmer and lighter than its predecessor, while still boasting a massive 5,750mAh battery – 750mAh more than before. The body now sports an IP54 rating, ensuring basic dust and water resistance.
The rest of the specs remain largely unchanged, including the Dimensity 9000+ chipset and dual screens: the 7.85" 120Hz LTPO inner panel and the 6.42" cover display. One notable addition is stylus support, making it easier to create and interact with content on the go.
The V Flip2: A Giant Leap in Display Size and Practicality
The V Flip2, on the other hand, has undergone some more significant changes. Although it’s thicker and heavier at 16mm and 196g, it boasts a substantial 4,720mAh battery – 720mAh more than before. Additionally, both new V phones feature faster wired charging at 70W, a welcome upgrade.
The biggest innovation, however, is the new 3.64" cover display, which wraps around the cameras and covers most of the top half. This design makes it much more practical and functional than the original’s circular display. Tecno claims that over 2,000 apps can run directly on the new cover display.
Notable Omissions and Changes
While the V Fold2 maintains its Dimensity 9000+ chipset, the V Flip2 has been downgraded to a Dimensity 8020, missing a higher-clocked prime core. Both new V phones have upgraded 50MP ultra-wide cameras, but the Flip2 has a new 50MP main camera with a slightly larger sensor. Unfortunately, the Flip2 has also lost its IP rating.
What’s Next?
We’ve got the V Fold2 in for review and are working on a V Flip2 review as well. Stay tuned for in-depth reports on these second-gen foldables from Tecno.
