Taming the Fearsome Stormrook: A Comprehensive Guide to Mastering the Aradan Spirit Beast Pet in The War Within

Taming Spirit Beast Aradan in World of Warcraft: The War Within

Spirit beasts are a crucial part of a Beast Mastery hunter’s arsenal, and in The War Within, you’ll have a new addition to your menagerie: Aradan, a stunning blue gryphon with electrifying lightning effects. But, as with all spirit beasts, taming this beauty requires some effort. Here’s a step-by-step guide to help you get your hands on Aradan:

Prerequisites

Before you start, make sure you meet the following requirements:

  • Level 70 as a Beast Mastery hunter
  • Have the War Within expansion installed
  • Be in Beast Mastery specialization, as spirit beasts are only available to hunters with this specialization

Obtaining the Void-Scarred Stormhammer

The first step is to acquire the Void-Scarred Stormhammer, a unique item needed to tame Aradan. To get your hands on this hammer, you’ll need to dive deep into the ocean, northwest of Dornogal (29, 36), and loot it from the sea floor. The coordinates are 29.0, 36.2 in the Isle of Dorn. It’s not located in a fatigue zone, but it’s a long dive, so be prepared!

Taming Aradan

Once you have the Void-Scarred Stormhammer, you can enter The Rookery dungeon in Dornogal on any difficulty, either by queuing for a Follower Dungeon run using the Looking for Group tool or by inviting friends to join you. You don’t need to complete the dungeon; simply reach the bottom of the pit by defeating the Kyrioss boss and jumping down the pit. Turn left and walk up the stairs, past the neutral enemies, to reach an open balcony where Aradan will be waiting.

Right-click the Void-Scarred Stormhammer in your bags, and he’ll land on the balcony. You can then tame him by right-clicking the hammer again while holding it aloft for Aradan to see.

Tips and Variations

  • You can obtain five different looks for Aradan by running the dungeon multiple times, each with subtle variations in his beak and head feathers.
  • The hammer is not consumed on use, so you can use it to help other hunter friends or tame a matching pair to use with your Animal Companion two-pet talent.
  • If you’re lucky, your tamed Aradan may even do the pretty gryphon bow/curtsy in unison with his partner.

With these steps, you’ll be well on your way to adding Aradan to your collection of spirit beasts. Enjoy the thrill of the hunt!
