Switch 2 Hype Reaches Frenzy: Rumors Intensify as Fans Anticipate Next Move
The Mysterious Connection Between Nintendo, Pathea Games, and the Potential Switch 2
As we’re halfway through September, Nintendo fans are eagerly awaiting the usual September Direct, which typically reveals exciting new games and hardware updates. However, this year, the gaming world has been abuzz with rumors and hints about a potential Switch 2 console, and indie studio Pathea Games has thrown fuel on the fire.
Pathea Games, the creators of the popular farming sim RPG series, My Time at Portia and My Time at Sandrock, recently announced a Kickstarter for their next game, My Time at Evershine. What caught everyone’s attention was the platforms the game is expected to launch on: PC, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, and "future Nintendo platforms yet to be announced." This seemingly confirmed rumors about a potential Switch 2, which has been circulating online.
The timing of Pathea Games’ announcement is intriguing, as it coincides with the last possible window for Nintendo to release a September Direct. Furthermore, the studio’s decision to use Kickstarter for their new game, rather than traditional funding methods, may indicate that they’re hedging their bets on the success of the Switch 2.
But that’s not all. The CEO of Limited Run Games, Joshua Fairhurst, recently posted a photo of himself outside Nintendo of America’s headquarters, sparking speculation about secret developer trips to the company’s North America HQ. This has led some to wonder if Nintendo is planning a major announcement or reveal.
Theories about a potential Switch 2 have been circulating online, with some sources claiming that the console is already in production in China and will be released under the name "Switch 2." Taiwan newspaper United Daily News has even added to the speculation, reporting that the console may launch before the end of the year.
While it’s easy to dismiss these rumors as mere speculation, the fact that Nintendo has never not held a September Direct in the past makes the timing of Pathea Games’ announcement and the developer trips to Nintendo’s HQ hard to ignore. We’ll just have to wait and see if Nintendo decides to break the mold and surprise us with a major announcement.
What do you think? Will Nintendo reveal a Switch 2 console, or is this all just a clever marketing ploy? Share your thoughts in the comments below!
