Swashbuckling Adventure Awaits: Legendary Game Designer Jordan Weisman Launches Open-World Pirate Romance Tactical RPG
Get Ready to Set Sail for Adventure with Sea of Legends, the Open-World Deck-Building RPG
Do you remember the good old days of playing tabletop games like BattleTech, Shadowrun, and Crimson Skies with your friends? Well, Jordan Weisman, the legendary game designer behind those classics, is back with a new project that combines the best of both worlds. Introducing Sea of Legends, an open-world deck-building RPG that combines strategy and role-playing elements with a hint of romance and swashbuckling adventure.
What’s Sea of Legends All About?
In Sea of Legends, you’ll explore the world as a pirate, building and customizing your ship, recruiting a crew, and engaging in tactical battles with your opponents. The game is centered around deck-to-deck battles on an isometric grid, where you’ll use a deck of cards to take actions with your crew. Each character has their own quests, which you can complete to gather more cards and improve your chances of success.
Pirate Life 101
As you navigate the high seas, you’ll encounter trade ships, troop ships, and even other pirates, each with their own loot and secrets. You can use your hard-earned gold to upgrade your ship, recruit new crew members, or acquire magical items to aid you in your quest for pirate greatness.
A Touch of Fantasy
Sea of Legends isn’t just about the high seas, though. The game also features a touch of fantasy, with elements like undead conquistadors, secret cults, and the mighty Kraken, among others. Because, let’s be honest, no pirate game is complete without a little bit of Kraken-filled action.
What’s at Stake?
Jordan Weisman has a successful track record with Kickstarter, having successfully funded projects like Shadowrun Returns, Golem Arcana, and Shadowrun: Hong Kong. His latest project, Sea of Legends, has a Kickstarter campaign running until November 14th. As a seasoned gamer, I’ll be keeping an eye on the project, and I hope you’ll join me.
Will Sea of Legends Make the Cut?
Only time will tell if Sea of Legends will join the ranks of the greatest pirate games of all time, alongside Assassin’s Creed 4, The Secret of Monkey Island, and Sid Meier’s Pirates!. One thing is certain, though – with its unique blend of deck-building and RPG elements, it’s definitely worth keeping an eye on.
