Steam Deck on the Horizon: Lenovo’s Impending Gaming Console Announcement Revealed for January Unveiling
Lenaovo Steam Deck Handheld Gaming PC: A CES 2025 Reveal?
A Potential Gaming Revolution?
Lenovo is rumored to be preparing to unveil its own take on the Steam Deck handheld gaming PC at the upcoming CES 2025 event. The news comes after The Verge reported that Lenovo has sent out an invitation to a special event, titled Lenovo Legion x AMD: The Future of Gaming Handhelds, which will take place on January 7th in Las Vegas. The event will feature a special guest appearance by Valve’s Pierre-Loup Griffais, the company’s Chief Design Architect.
A Strong Case for a Lenovo Steam Deck?
While the invitation itself is vague, it’s clear that Lenovo is planning something big. Just a week prior, trusted online tipster Evan Blass posted images of a device called the Lenovo Legion Go S, which features a dedicated Steam button. This new device seems to run on Valve’s SteamOS, which could be a game-changer for handheld gaming.
Avoiding Software Issues?
The original Lenovo Legion Go ran on Windows 11, but the new device’s SteamOS operating system could help avoid the software issues that plagued the previous model. As our review noted, navigating Windows and Legion Space on the original device was often frustrating. SteamOS, on the other hand, is specifically designed for gaming and might provide a more seamless experience.
Other Guests and Industry Insights
The Lenovo event will also feature Jason Ronald, Microsoft’s VP of Xbox Gaming Devices and Ecosystem. Microsoft has been pushing the idea that any device with a screen is an Xbox, and its executives have hinted at entering the handheld space in the future. While an Xbox handheld is likely years away, it’s possible that Microsoft will be interested in supporting Windows handhelds in the meantime.
A CES 2025 Reveal?
Will Lenovo unveil its Steam Deck handheld gaming PC at CES 2025? Only time will tell, but the signs are pointing in that direction. With a dedicated Steam button and SteamOS operating system, this device could be a major player in the handheld gaming market. Stay tuned for more updates as the event approaches.
