Spider-Man 2: No More Story Expansion? Insomniac Confirms the End of DLC
No Plans for Spider-Man 2 Story DLC, Insomniac Confirms
In a move that’s likely to disappoint many fans, game developer Insomniac has confirmed that they have no plans to develop story DLC for 2023’s action-adventure game, Spider-Man 2. This announcement comes just 15 months after the game’s release on PlayStation 5, and just as the game is making its way to PC in January 2025.
No more story DLC planned for Spider-Man 2
Insomniac’s senior community manager, Aaron Jason Espinoza, made the confirmation in a post on the official PlayStation Blog, stating that the studio has no additional story content planned for Spider-Man 2, either on PC or PS5. Instead, fans can expect the PC version to include all previously released post-launch content, such as New Game+, new suits and color variants, Photo Mode features, and more.
What’s next for Insomniac?
While Insomniac is wrapping up development on Spider-Man 2, they’re already working on a previously confirmed Wolverine game, as well as an unannounced X-Men game. Fans will have to wait a bit longer for more information on these projects, but it’s clear that Insomniac is busy with multiple projects, including a rumored Spider-Man 3.
No more Venom content, either
Fans had been hoping for more Venom content, following the success of the first Spider-Man game’s paid DLC episodes, The City That Never Sleeps. However, it seems that Insomniac is moving on from Spider-Man 2 and focusing on their other projects.
While this news may be a letdown for some fans, Insomniac’s focus on new projects is a promising sign for the future of their gaming library.
