Shocking AMD Ryzen 9000X3D Leak: Is It a Major Disappointment or a Step Back?
AMD Ryzen 9000X3D: Early Performance Benchmarks Revealed
In a recent presentation, MSI revealed some concerning performance numbers for their Ryzen 9000X3D chips, leaving enthusiasts and gamers alike wondering what to expect from this new line of processors. According to a report by HardwareLuxx, MSI’s factory tour in Shenzhen showed off the new chips, which may have respectable multicore performance gains, but the results are not without question.
Mixed Bag of Performance Gains
The presentation revealed that an eight-core 9000X3D outperformed a Ryzen 7 7900X3D by up to 28% in Cinebench R23, a popular benchmark for testing CPU performance. However, in games like Black Myth: Wukong and Shadow of the Tomb Raider, the gains were much more modest, ranging from only 2%. This mixed bag of results has left many wondering whether the new chips will live up to the hype.
Close But Not Quite on Par with Vanilla Ryzen 9000
Another surprising revelation from MSI’s presentation is that X3D performance was practically the same as non-X3D chips at the same CPU frequency. While this might seem like a disappointment, MSI notes that "Performance is expected to be better on PR samples and retail chips," suggesting that there could be improvements once the chips are released to the public.
The Mystery of the Leaked Presentation
It’s unclear whether HardwareLuxx broke an embargo or if MSI was responsible for the early leak. The presentation also seems to be closely tied to a discussion of Intel’s new Core Ultra 200S chips, but it’s puzzling why unreleased AMD chips would be included in the same presentation. One thing is certain, however: the early performance numbers for the Ryzen 9000X3D chips may have set the stage for an exciting future of gaming and computing.
