This innovation, currently being tested among Windows Insiders, grants iPhone owners an AirDrop-like capability to quickly send documents, images, and other files to a connected Windows PC.

For those without experience with iOS devices, AirDrop has become synonymous with effortless sharing between Mac and iOS devices. Apple’s proprietary solution enables effortless sharing of documents, videos, and even music and images. However, what about iPhone and Windows PCs? Microsoft seeks to answer this question by developing the Phone Link app’s upcoming update.

The update has already been unveiled in Microsoft’s support documents, allowing iPhone users to transfer files from their handheld devices to Windows PCs.

How Does the Sharing Process Work?

To facilitate this process, users will require both the Phone Link app on Windows and the Link to Windows app on iPhone. Both devices must be linked beforehand. Here’s how file sharing will unfold:

#### Share a file from iPhone to PC

1. Navigate to the files you want to share on your iPhone.
2. Tap the share icon.
3. Select “Link to Windows” from the available options.
4. Choose the device you wish to share the file or files with.

#### Share a file from PC to iPhone

1. Select the files you wish to share from your PC’s local directory.
2. Right-click on the selected file and choose the “Share” option.
3. Select “My Phone” from the share panel.
