Samsung Unveils Revolutionary Tri-Fold Foldable Phone at CES: The Future of Mobile Technology

Tri-Fold Foldable Phone Rumours Intensify as Samsung Display Showcases Innovative Screen Concepts at CES 2025

Rumours that Samsung is gearing up to launch a tri-fold foldable phone have been buzzing for a while now, and recent developments have only added fuel to the fire. At this year’s CES 2025, Samsung Display took centre stage to showcase some of its latest screen technology concepts, and a tri-fold foldable device stole the show.

As seen in the images released by CNET, this tri-fold concept phone boasts an impressive larger and more rectangular display, allowing users to fold it into a normal smartphone form factor with two hinges. The possibilities are endless, from entertainment to productivity.

This isn’t the first time we’ve seen Samsung toying with foldable concepts, but the chances of a 2025 release are looking more promising than ever. Late last year, a Samsung patent for a tri-fold foldable emerged, and Huawei’s recent triple-folding Mate XT release is likely to have put pressure on Samsung to get in on the action.

In fact, a new report from Korean website Sisajournal claims that Samsung will launch its tri-fold device in the second half of 2025. Unlike the Huawei Mate XT, which features a kinked design, Samsung’s phone is expected to fold in on itself twice, promising a more seamless user experience.

Given the fragile nature of foldable displays, this could be a pragmatic move as much as an aesthetic decision. The report cites initial durability issues with early Huawei Mate XT models, highlighting the importance of robust design in this area.

Don’t expect a mass-market affair, though. The report claims that the initial production run will be limited to just 300,000 units, and the price is expected to be prohibitively high. With the current Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 retailing for close to £1,800, a tri-fold model could easily crack the £2,000 mark.
