Samsung Unveils Galaxy Laptops Powered by Snapdragon and Intel, Redefining AI-Infused Computing, AI-powered PCs

IFA 2024 is turning up the heat with its latest tech announcements, and one of the most exciting reveals is the slew of AI-powered PCs from top manufacturers. Samsung is taking center stage with not one, but two new AI-based laptops that are sure to get you excited.

First up, we have the Samsung Galaxy Book5 Pro 360. This beast is powered by the Intel Core Ultra CPU (Series 2) and an NPU with up to 47 total TOPs. You’ll also get an Intel Arc GPU, a 3K resolution and 120Hz refresh rate screen, and a Dynamic AMOLED 2X display with Vision Booster technology to reduce glare. The cherry on top? It boasts up to 25 hours of video playback battery life. With 16GB of RAM and up to 1TB of storage, this laptop is ready to take on whatever you throw at it.

Next, we have the Samsung Galaxy Book4 Edge. This sleek and stylish laptop is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon X Plus 8-core CPU and an NPU with up to 45 total TOPs. It features a 15.6-inch FHD display with anti-glare tech and comes in a stylish Sapphire Blue color. Despite its thin and light design, this laptop still manages to pack a punch with a well-rounded port selection, including USB Type-C, USB Type-A, HDMI, a combo jack, and a micro SD slot. You’ll also get 16GB of RAM and up to 512GB of storage.

Both of these laptops utilize Copilot+ AI and Samsung’s in-house AI tools and programs. The Book5 Pro 360 is already available in the UK for £1,699, with a launch date of September 24 in other regions. The Book4 Edge will launch in the US, UK, and other regions starting October 10.

But what does the future hold for AI-powered CPUs? Samsung, like other manufacturers, is mixing and matching different AI-powered CPUs in their various models. This allows them to test and refine their offerings, giving buyers more options to choose from. Of course, we’ll have to wait for official benchmarks and testing from professionals to get a true sense of these CPUs’ capabilities.

As we continue to explore the world of AI PCs, it’s exciting to see what’s on the horizon. With promising chips like Snapdragon already out, it’ll be fascinating to see which ones become the winners. And with AMD and Intel both throwing their hats into the ring, the competition is heating up.

But for now, I have to say I’m a bit concerned about Intel’s output. With ongoing stability issues with their 13th and 14th-gen processors, it’s hard not to wonder what Team Blue can really deliver. Lunar Lake should theoretically be able to compete with and surpass its competitors, but we’ll have to wait and see if that’s indeed the case.
