Samsung Galaxy Z Fold7 to Revolutionize Foldables with Enhanced Displays and Expanding Panels
Samsung’s 2025 Foldables: Larger Screens on the Horizon?
As we look ahead to the future of foldables, rumors are surfacing about Samsung’s plans for their 2025 lineup. Industry consultant Ross Young, known for his insights into the display supply chain, has spilled the beans.
Galaxy Z Fold7 and Flip7: What to Expect?
According to Young, the Galaxy Z Fold7 will be treated to the Galaxy Fold Special Edition panels, featuring an 8-inch foldable screen and a 6.5-inch panel on the cover. Meanwhile, the clamshell Galaxy Z Flip7 is expected to get a boost across the board, with a 6.85-inch foldable display (up from 6.7 inches) and a 4-inch cover display (up from 3.4 inches).
The Slowdown in Foldable Sales: A Temporary Blip?
These rumors come on the heels of an analysis revealing a slower-than-expected sales performance for the Flip6 during Q3 2024. Panel shipments are down 10% from last year, with the product struggling to gain traction in the United States and China. The Flip remains popular in Europe and Korea, however.
A similar trend is seen at Huawei, where foldable phone orders have decreased between July and September. But this isn’t a reflection on the company’s foldable strategy, as they’re introducing new phones later in the year. The Mate X6 was launched in China last week and will hit global markets on December 12.
The Future of Foldables: A Record-Breaking Year Ahead?
According to market projections, the foldable panel market might experience a slowdown in 2025. However, this isn’t necessarily a cause for concern. The segment is expected to gain momentum again in 2026, thanks to Apple’s entry into the foldable market. The tech giant’s first foldable smartphone is expected to generate "significant growth" for the industry, making 2026 a record-breaking year for the foldable segment.
