Toyota’s CUE: The Rise of a Robot Basketball Phenom

Toyota, the automaker that can’t seem to get enough of innovation, is on a roll. In 2017, a team of nine Toyota engineers volunteered for the CUE project, an AI-learning robot designed to play basketball. CUE’s early days were marked by experimentation with basic components and Lego bricks, but it wasn’t long before it began to develop its own unique style. And though it missed on its first try, it didn’t take long for the robot to redeem itself.
