Revolutionizing Internet Speeds: Hyperfast NBN Plans Coming Soon, with Speed Boosts for Existing Users

NBN Co Brings the Heat with Hyperfast Plans and Speed Boosts

Get Ready for Faster Internet and Increased Value

NBN Co has been teasing us with the possibility of Hyperfast plans since May, and finally, the wait is over. From September 14, 2025, Australians will be able to upgrade to 2Gbps NBN plans, redefining the best NBN plans in the country. This development comes on the heels of a slow rollout, with the introduction of Hyperfast plans no longer expected before the end of 2024.

Not everyone will be eligible for these lightning-fast speeds, though. To take advantage of Hyperfast plans, you’ll need to connect to the NBN via fibre to the premises (FTTP) or hybrid fibre coaxial (HFC) technology, the same conditions that apply to the current NBN 250 and NBN 1000 plans.

Perhaps this is the perfect time to upgrade, especially for those who haven’t taken advantage of NBN Co’s free fibre upgrade program yet.

Faster Speeds Mean Greater Value

Alongside the introduction of Hyperfast plans, NBN Co is also making good on its promise to increase the maximum download speeds of existing plans. From September 14, 2025, the speeds will be as follows:

* 100Mbps plans will get a massive 500Mbps boost
* 250Mbps plans will see a three-times speed increase to 750Mbps
* 1,000Mbps plans will increase to a minimum of 750Mbps (up from the current 500Mbps)

The best part? These speed boosts will be automatic for customers already on these plans or who upgrade before the new plans roll out. Pricing for the current trio of NBN plans won’t increase drastically, thanks to the new Special Access Undertaking (SAU) regulatory framework.

The Path to Future Greatness

With these speed boosts on the horizon, we recommend taking a closer look at our top 100Mbps plans. Since the SAU introduced new wholesale pricing for ISPs and encouraged Australians to upgrade to faster plans, we’ve seen a significant decline in NBN 50 connections and a surge in plans with speeds faster than 100Mbps.

If you’re not currently connected via FTTP or HFC, don’t worry – the providers we recommend below all support the free fibre upgrade program. Remember that only customers connected via FTTC/N technology are eligible for the upgrade at this time.
