Revolutionize Your Smartphone Experience: AI-Powered Galaxy S25 Unlocks a New Era

The Overhyped World of AI-Powered Smartphones

As we welcome a new year, it’s natural to look back at the latest technology trends. In 2024, the tech world was abuzz with the promise of artificial intelligence (AI) revolutionizing our smartphones. From Samsung’s Galaxy AI to Apple’s Intelligence, manufacturers promised the earth with their innovative AI-powered features.

I was one of the many who got excited about the prospect of on-device generative AI processing, touting features like text rewriting, on-device translation, and AI-infused photo and video editing. But after a full year of using AI-enabled smartphones from top manufacturers, I’m left underwhelmed.

Now, I’m not saying that AI has no place in our smartphones. I do appreciate the convenience of the Pixel 9 Pro XL’s transcription and summarization features, or the iPhone 16 Pro Max’s recording and transcribing phone calls. I’ve even enjoyed playing with the slew of image editing tools offered by Samsung’s Galaxy AI, with generally impressive results.

However, I struggle to see how these features have truly transformed my smartphone experience. The survey from USwitch, which asked the general public about their desired AI features, revealed that the biggest wants – such as predicting lost items, handling life administration, and analyzing voice calls – are still a distant dream.

What’s more, the accuracy of AI-powered features is often a concern. Apple Intelligence’s notification summaries can misinterpret incoming notifications, while Galaxy AI’s text rewriting can sound stilted and lacking in personality.

So, where are the actually good features? Disappointingly, many AI-enabled smartphones fall short of their promises. And with manufacturers already planning to integrate more AI features into their 2025 flagships, it’s likely we’ll face another year of overhyped and underwhelming AI experiences.

For now, my advice is to look beyond the glitzy AI features and focus on the specs and features that will genuinely impact your daily life – like faster charging, longer battery life, and better cameras. The hype surrounding AI-powered smartphones may have died down, but its impact on our mobile experience is still to be seen.
