Revolutionize Your Digital Organization: Back Up Computer Folders to Google Photos
Google Photos Introduces New Backup Capability for Your Computer Folders
Imagine having your favorite memories safely stored on the web, and ready to access from anywhere. Google Photos has recently introduced a new feature that lets you autosync folders from your computer to the web. This innovation aims to make backing up your precious files more convenient and seamless.
How It Works
Whenever you log in to your Google Photos account on the web, the platform will continuously scan the folders you’ve selected for new images and videos to upload. This feature is similar to the Google Drive for desktop app, allowing you to backup your computer files without needing to download any additional software.
Setting it Up
If this feature has been rolled out to your Google Photos account, you can enable it by tapping the "Upload" button in the app bar, then selecting "Back up folders." You’ll then be able to browse your computer to select the folder you want to backup. After that, you’ll need to give Google Photos permission to access the selected folder.
Managing Your Folders
Once you’ve set up the feature, you can access the "Folder backup" window by opening the "Give Google Photos permission to back up your selected folders" menu. This window allows you to view and remove selected files, as well as add new ones to the backup list.
Availability
This Google Photos folder backup feature is available with desktop Chrome, including Chromebooks. Unlike the Google Drive desktop app, which runs in the background, this web solution requires you to periodically visit photos.google.com to access your backed-up files.
