The Future of Autonomous Driving: Tesla’s Cybercab

After years of hype, Tesla has finally unveiled its plan for the future of autonomous driving in the form of the Cybercab. This revolutionary vehicle is designed to be completely autonomous, without a steering wheel or pedals, and will change the way we think about transportation. At its "We, Robot" event on October 10, Tesla CEO Elon Musk gave us a glimpse into what the company envisions for the future of transportation.

Exterior Design

The design of the Cybercab is a fusion of the Cybertruck and Model 3, with long light bars on the front and rear, giving it a futuristic look. The curved roofline along the top and flat rear give it a unique appearance that’s both familiar and innovative. The large, slim tires are an interesting design choice, although some attendees have noted that Tesla simply painted parts of the tires to achieve this look.

Interior

The interior of the Cybercab is where things get really exciting. As this vehicle is designed for autonomous driving, Tesla has the freedom to rethink interior design. There’s no steering wheel or pedals, and the seats are pushed back to provide more legroom. The 20.5-inch center display is designed for passenger entertainment, such as watching movies or playing games.

Range and Charging

With the Cybercab’s self-driving capabilities, range isn’t as much of an issue as it would be with traditional electric vehicles. The vehicle can drive itself to a charging station and charge up for future use. Unfortunately, Tesla didn’t reveal the range of the Cybercab, but we’re hoping for a minimum of 300 miles.

Another innovative feature is inductive charging, which allows for wireless charging, just like your smartphone. This means you won’t need to worry about charging ports like Tesla Superchargers, at least not initially.

Price and Availability

According to Musk, the Cybercab will be available by the end of 2027 for under $30,000. However, as we’ve seen with other Tesla models, the company’s track record with pricing and release dates is spotty at best. Take these predictions with a grain of salt and a healthy dose of skepticism.

The future of transportation is here, and it’s in the hands of Tesla’s Cybercab.
