Revolutionary AI-Powered Virtual Pet Technology: ChatGPT Unleashes 8 New Realistic Animal Vocalizations

ChatGPT’s Advanced Voice Mode has barely been out for a minute, but it’s already looking like OpenAI might be about to add a whopping eight new voices to the mix. We’re talking a range of new styles to add to the four preset voices: Juniper, Ember, Cove, and Breeze, which are already part of the package. The Advanced Voice Mode is designed to give you the most humanly possible ChatGPT experience, kind of like Google’s Gemini Live on the new Pixel 9 smartphones.

Rumors about the new voices first surfaced on TestingCatalog, where eight new voices were allegedly found through reverse engineering reports. These voices, which include Fathom, Glimmer, Harp, Maple, Orbit, Rainbow, Reef, Ridge, and Vale, are meant to help ChatGPT’s text-to-speech capabilities sound even more natural – like, for instance, dog barks. They’re not currently accessible, but you can get a sneak peek at what they sound like thanks to Tibor Blaho on X.

It’s worth noting that these new voices aren’t just about expanding options; they’re also part of OpenAI’s mission to make ChatGPT as natural and conversational as possible. And while we don’t know exactly when we’ll be able to get our hands on these new voices, we do know that they’re coming.

But here’s the thing: OpenAI might be working on more than just ChatGPT voices. There’s a rumor going around that the company might be dipping its toes into the hardware market. According to Taiwanese website United Daily News, OpenAI has been in talks with TSMC, the chip manufacturer that works with Apple on its iPhones. If true, this would mean OpenAI is looking to create its own custom AI chipset, similar to Apple’s Neural Engines and other Neural Processing Units.

The rumor implies that OpenAI wants to base its custom chip on TSMC’s A16 Angstrom process, which Apple might use in the future – potentially hinting at future collaborations between the companies. Apple, as you might know, will be integrating ChatGPT on iPhones as part of the next generation of Siri, powered by Apple Intelligence. iPhone users will be able to send prompts to OpenAI’s servers, allowing the iPhone to benefit from both Apple Intelligence and ChatGPT’s incredible abilities.
