Reviving the Art of Craftsmanship: Why Custom Log-Home Builders Embrace Timeless Quality Over Efficiency
The Art of Building Log Homes: A Family Affair
For decades, Lake County Log Homes has been building custom houses the traditional way, and they don’t plan on changing anytime soon.
A Family Legacy
The Gervais brothers, Jamie and Rob, took over the family business in 2008. Growing up around log cabins, they learned the importance of craftsmanship and family values. Today, they’re proud to carry on the legacy, building homes that people dream of since they were kids or their grandparents had a log cabin.
The Craftsmanship
“It’s the craftsmanship in hand-selecting and shaping logs that sets Lake Country Log Homes apart,” says Jamie. To pick logs for builds, Rob makes multiple trips to the British Columbia coast to different sort yards. They mainly source western cedar and Douglas fir trees and follow sustainable logging practices and reforestation.
Workwear Essentials
To work in this environment, the crew needs quality and durable gear. When it comes to workwear, they aren’t scared to try new things. They were recently introduced to Dickies and have been wearing their carpenter jeans, button-downs, thermals, and hoodies. Jamie says the crew loves what they’re wearing and some have even gone out and bought more.
Dickies Favorites
Here are some of the Dickies products that the Lake Country Log Homes crew loves:
- Dickies Thermal Lined Full-Zip Fleece Hoodie: A warm and cozy favorite for chilly days on the job site.
- Dickies Heavyweight Brawny Flannel Shirt: A rugged and durable option for the toughest tasks.
- Dickies Thermal Henley Shirt: A versatile and comfortable choice for everyday wear.
- Dickies Relaxed Fit Heavyweight Carpenter Jeans: A durable and comfortable option for long days on the job site.
A Family That Works Together
Whether it’s the crew, some who have been with the company for 30 years; clients, some who call to say ‘hi’ 20 years later; or the business itself, which’s been building homes since the ’80s, Lake Country Log Homes treats all aspects like family. “We love what we do, obviously. It’s a lifestyle and family that work together.”
