Retro Revival: Vintage 1960s Dive Watch Transformed into an Even More Iconic Timepiece
Vulcain x Massena Lab Nautical Legacy: A Diver’s Paradise
The latest collaboration between Vulcain and Massena Lab is a true masterpiece, reimagining the classic dive watch with a rich brown tropical dial and vintage tritium-inspired lume. The makeover is complete with a brand-new, exclusive handset that draws inspiration from the utility-first military divers of the 1950s.
A New Era for the Classic Diver
The dial, with its signature rotating dive-table markings, has been given a 70-year-old patina, appearing as if it’s aged to perfection. The lumed hands and indices have been crafted to mimic the looks of the period, resulting in a warm, vintage aesthetic. This unique touch sets the tone for a watch that’s both modern and nostalgic.
Handset for the Ages
The new handset, designed exclusively for this collaboration, consists of a baton hour hand, tipped-arrow minute hand, lollipop seconds hand, and bold red arrow for the alarm. Unlike the original’s polished dauphine hands, these new hands are more legible and draw inspiration from the utility-first military divers of the 1950s.
The Strap: A Modern Twist
The strap, also designed by Massena Lab, is a premium black rubber strap that fits perfectly to the case. While it’s not strictly ’50s-inspired, it’s designed to resemble the integrated rubber straps found on modern luxury divers rather than vintage pieces.
The Same Reliable Movement Inside
Outside of its stylish makeover, the watch shares the same reliable in-house mechanical alarm movement, Cal. V10, and features a "triple caseback" that allows for a resonance chamber for the alarm without compromising the 300m of water resistance.
