Realme confirms launch date for 300W charging
Reports about Realme introducing 300W wired charging were true. The company will reveal the technology on August 14 at a dedicated event in China.
The “technological breakthrough” will be a step above the 240W rates introduced in February 2023, but the teaser does not say whether a phone will also be showcased.
A 300W rate is nothing new in the world of smartphones – Redmi announced a similar technology that can charge a smartphone from 0 to 100% in under five minutes, but almost 18 months after its unveiling, we have yet to see it in real life.
Currently, it is Realme that holds the record for fastest charging on a commercial smartphone – the GT Neo 5 launched in China with 240W fast charging and later introduced to international markets under the name Realme GT3. The company promised 0 to 100% in under 10 minutes, and our real-life tests were almost as close – 2 to 100% in 11 minutes and 16 seconds.
The Realme announcement next week is right in time for the 828 Realme Fan Festival (8.28 as in August 28, 2018 when Realme launched its first smartphone as an independent brand), and we can only hope a 300W smartphone will be sold to enthusiastic customers.
