Rare Porsche 911 SC RS Rally Car: Ultimate Collector’s Find Hits the Auction Block
A Piece of Porsche History: 1984 911 SC RS Rally Car for Sale at $2.6m-$3.5m
The Porsche 911 SC RS is a legendary rally car produced in a limited batch for competition in the FIA Group B class. No. 021 is particularly significant, being the first and only 911 in the series to be originally owned by a racing tycoon, Tycho van Dijk. This well-documented, low-production 911 SC RS rallied in the Tour de Corse and is now scheduled to be auctioned, with an estimated value range of $2.6 million to $3.5 million.
Owner’s History
Tycho van Dijk, its original owner, was more than just a racing investor; he was a car enthusiast who owned an accomplished racing team. Although its racing career was short lived, 021 participated and finished 14th, the highest-placed 911, in the rally. Due to financial troubles, van Dijk subsequently retired from racing, holding onto the 911 despite its competitive potential.
When van Dijk sold to its current owner in 2004, the dashboard clock read 3,094 miles. Today, the odometer shows almost 3,237; the car has been pushed only 143 miles between 2004 and currently.
